Adeniran Whitney's death
The management and staff of chrisland School has explained the circumstances surrounding the death of One of their 12year old student Adeniran Whitney. Whitney die during the school inter-house sports activities in Agege Stadium in Lagos on Thursday.
Whitney father had earlier on taken to social media on Saturday night to demand a probe and justice into the death of his daughter, calling on the Lagos State government and the police to intervene on the matter.
The father also demand chrisland School to explain what happened to his daughter, stating that she has no health challenges as at the time the school pick her for the event.
May while the police confirmed the incident stating the case is presently at the state criminal department and an autopsy will be conducted to know the actual cause of her death.
Responding to the call for justice for the deceased, chrisland School release a press statement on Sunday, saying the management and staff of chrisland School limited, with deep sense of loss announced the death of our precious student Adeniran Whitney whose painful death occured on Thursday, February 9th, 2023.
We are heartbroken and distressed, Whitney was one of our Day student who asked to be excuse not to participate in the inter-house sports match past for reasons we were not sure of.
On descretion we respected her decision to stay out on the side of caution, because on January 20, 2023, she complained of her having health challenges, and as a school we immediately contacted her parents.
Her father Mr Adeniran, came to school to take her home.
The school said she slumped in the public view and not under any hidden circumstances, she was rush to a nearby medical facility for first aid.
Chrisland School appealed to the Adeniran family to conduct a scientific verification of the underlying cause of her death before her burial.
In spite of the compelling imperative to fill any information gaps in public space, we stopped short of making any media sensation out of this, because the deceased is a minor.
While mourning Whitney Adeniran, the management of chrisland School feel the deep pain of her loss, our prayers and thoughts are to the family.
As we await the outcome of an independent post- mortem process, we remain committed to supporting the family at this critical time, and praying fervently for the fortitude to bear her painful loss.
